Calvary Chapel Worship Leaders Conference 2011

SPEAKERS

Pedro Garcia is the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Kendall in South Florida. Born in Miami, Florida, Pedro gave his life to the Lord at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale in 1996 at the age of 21. After graduating from Calvary Chapel Bible College in 1999, he became assistant project manager of a new housing development that was under construction. It was there that the Lord stirred his heart to start what is now Calvary Chapel Kendall. Calvary Chapel Kendall has become one of the fastest-growing churches in the area, meeting in two campuses in Miami. Pedro’s enthusiastic love for the Lord and the lost is contagious. He teaches verse-by-verse through the Word of God, resulting in lives that are impacted, built up, and equipped to do the work of ministry. His humorous, passionate, and contemporary style connects with a wide audience without compromising the truth of the Scriptures. Pedro can be heard on Life Radio, the daily radio ministry of Calvary Chapel Kendall, on stations nationwide. He currently serves on several Boards of Directors including Samaritan’s Purse with Franklin Graham. He is also the founder of LiFE FM 90.9, which is a Christian radio station serving the city of Miami and the Florida Keys.

Dave Sylvester is the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel York, England, as well as the director of Calvary Chapel York Bible College. Dave grew up in Arizona and became a follower of Jesus Christ in 1971 at the age of 15. He moved to California later that year and started attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in the mid 70s. Dave spent his early years as a believer heavily involved in the secular music industry. The Lord opened his eyes to the emptiness of the direction he was pursuing and revealed the joy of serving Him and the body of Christ through music, which he still continues to do. As a result of a music tour in the UK, the Lord started opening Dave’s heart to the great need for the teaching of the Word of God in what appeared to be a dry and thirsty land. In 1994 Dave and his wife Nancy moved to England to fulfill the Lord’s calling, and in 1996 they started a home Bible study that grew into what is today Calvary Chapel York. In 2000 the Lord stirred their hearts to start an extension campus of CC Bible College out of CC Costa Mesa, California. Dave and Nancy and are experiencing the joy of seeing the Lord work by His Spirit in the church and Bible College in exciting ways. They live in York, England, and have four children and two grandchildren.
